On Saturday, February 18th, 2017, I’ll be hosting my third CreateAlong Creative Livestream! The livestream will begin at 9:00pm Central Time after an hour’s worth of Pictionary at 8:00pm Central Time.

Join me as we create a piece of artwork together, step-by-step. I’ll help you each step of the way as you ask questions and send me snapshots of your progress in real time. This CreateAlong, we’ll be creating an “Animalia Afoot” animal art card in ink and watercolor!

Vote in the poll on which animal I will demonstrate! Vote for multiple choices and even add your own ideas for others to vote on.

Feel free to broadcast yourself creating with the livestream or post photographs of your progress. Use the hashtag #createalong as you post on social media or share you creation in the Noelle’s Nocturnals Discord Server #art channel.

Supply List

I will be demonstrating the creation of an “Animalia Afoot” card on 3×5 inch, 140 pound watercolor paper. I cut down a 7×10 inch sheet of watercolor paper into four 3×5 inch cards. Lower pound paper, or even mixed media paper, may be substituted. Blue painter’s tape will be used to hold the watercolor paper to a clipboard to keep it as taught as possible and to prevent warping. You will not need these materials if you work on a watercolor block or keep the paper in a watercolor sketchbook. A pencil and eraser are needed in order to draw the animal footprint on the card. A water container will be needed to store water and rags or paper cloths are recommended for cleaning and controlling water. Lastly, a white gel pen will be used to add a white border around the animal footprint.

A paper cutter or pair of scissors may be needed in order to cut down paper to the 3×5 inch size. You may choose to work at a smaller or larger size, or work on a watercolor block or in a watercolor sketchbook. Mixed media paper may also be used, though it will not be as effective as watercolor paper. If using a Staedtler lead holder as your drawing device, you may need Staedtler lead or a Staedtler rotary lead pointer.
