So, I just got back from Austin! I’d never really been before. I should be going to sleep really soon to wake up early tomorrow, but I wanted to write this first so that my blog has that hyped up feel that I’m feeling right now and probably won’t later on. xD I want to write about things right after I experience them to keep the essential feeling or whatever. lol Keepin’ it real.

Anyways, I just got back from Austin. My Intro to Fine Arts teacher gave us extra credit if we saw Ry Ricklen speak at the Blanton Museum on the UT campus. I also needed to do 2 art/museum reviews for 2 different classes, so this was perfect. Knock out 3 things with one trip! 😀 I was really excited when I heard about it…until I remembered that I have no car. Boo.

I had pretty much given up hope on going unless I wanted to try my luck with not only Texas State buses, but also UT’s and Austin’s…but then I decided to just give it a shot and send out a mass e-mail to my whole class. We can do that here at Texas State. ;D So I sent an e-mail asking to carpool with someone the night before the event. This morning, I checked my e-mail and had 5 responses. 2 people told me to ride the bus, another person told me that she needed a ride, too, and 2 other people said I could ride with them and gave me their phone numbers. Like I had mentioned before, I didn’t want to take the bus, and I told the person who needed a ride all that I knew and tried to help her as best as I could. Then, it was to decid who to ride with….I just looked at the names: Bret and Brittany. I went with Brittany. 🙂

I texted her and we worked out a meeting place and time. Had to catch a ride with my totally awesome peer assistant, Noel, to get to the meeting place, but hey, I got there. xD Then, it was off to Austin!

The talk was kind of weird…I wasn’t really bored, but the guy wasn’t really professional, and he even started about 15 minutes late. He makes art out of things he finds and has an obsession with tiling things, especially mattresses. -shrug- I wasn’t really into his stuff. I took notes and was interested the whole time, though.

An hour later, Brittany and I, (who were acting much like friends now, since she’s so nice and cool,) roamed the museum, taking pictures and commenting for our art reviews. There were people doing yoga in the middle of one of the exhibitions. xD It was an actual class you could sign up for or something. It was pretty weird. Both, Brittany and I, agreed that most of the things in the museum were pretty weird.

We left after seeing mostly everything, and while we were walking down the street, she mentioned that her boyfriend, Noah, and his friend, Patrick, wanted to meet up with us and get something to eat. I met 2 more new people and we kind of roamed the streets and walked around campus looking for a place to eat. Patrick finally took us to some hip sit-down pizza place. I don’t remember the name, but it had something to do with mushrooms. It was like “Sweet Shrooms” or something. xD The inside was painted rainbowy, and there were mushrooms, and peace-signs, and weird things. It was just a pizza place, though, so don’t worry. xD It was actually really nice, and the crust was the most amazing crust I’ve ever tasted.

Brittany, Noah, Patrick and I just talked and I got to know them better. I really liked all of them…Like I could really see myself being friends with them. Too bad Noah and Patrick go to UT and Brittany lives off-campus. xD Oh well, it was still super fun. Oh, and it was karaoke night so that was fun, too. There were some good people and some not good ones. lol

So, we finished eating and walked back to Brittany’s car. Patrick went to his dorm, Noah said bye to Brittany, and then we were off. She took me back to Tower so I didn’t have to worry about the buses not running anymore and I didn’t have to call Noel or something. Good thing, too, cuz’ he was playing Halo. xD He still has my XBOX controller, too, but it’s all good. 😀

If you can’t already tell, I had a lot of fun and I’m in a super good mood. Today was awesome. Brittany was awesome. Her boyfriend and his friend were awesome. Austin was awesome (or the little bit that I saw.) So yeah, today was a good day…Time for sleep now. 🙂

(Oh, and Brittany kind of looks like Bianca from the 10 Things I Hate About You TV show. lol)

Austin is a lot of fun, when you visit it xD From what I hear it kind of sucks to live there because there are a lot of artsy people and they an be a little stuck up. I’m glad you’re having fun and getting out and doing stuff with new people, and it’s cool that you got to go to the art museum. Oh, and the pizza place sounds cool xD

lol Yeah, it was pretty awesome. Don’t know if I would want to live there…I didn’t really see much except for around the UT campus, but it was still pretty cool. Traffic was a pain getting there, though. But, gosh, it was just so much fun to get out, meet new people, explore new places, and just…-shrug-…have fun, I guess. 😀
