"The Rules of the Road" North Dakota Edition

“The Rules of the Road” North Dakota Edition

I am going to skip the sappy excuses because I have none really. I am freaking out right now, am uninspired, and I feel like a wreck who hasn’t been getting a lot of sleep. Just recently though, I have been feeling better which explains the really late check up.

Anyways, this week from June 3 to June 7, 2007, I have written a lame total of 1,893 words off of Magic Pens.

As for reading, I read about 5 pages of Timeline written by Micheal Crichton and The Rules of the Road about three times from cover to cover.

I have finally gotten around to copying and pasting all my stuff from my Magic Pens blog to this blog.

Both will have all of the same stuff, so for now, it’s only there for back-up and for people outside of Magic Pens to read my stuff. Some of my friends and relatives have been asking to read my stuff, and I am getting very tired of e-mailing each one a copy of my next chapter.

I am sorry that I haven’t been on lately…I really don’t know why, but I haven’t drawn, written, or read a lot lately. I don’t really know what I am doing with my time. Well, I wake up at 7:00 every Monday through Friday and have no parents at home until 3:00, so I will have plenty of quiet-time to write on those days and I am planning to. There is no way that I will not finish my end-of-the-year book submission. I am totally going to finish it…I just have to start…

Anyway, this week from May 27th to June 2nd, 2007, I only managed to scribble down 890 words.

I only read about 5 more pages of Timeline, written by Michael Crichton.

That’s really bad and I am really ashamed of myself. I don’t know if it counts, but I also read 60 pages of a game guide. I am really hoping that I will write this week and the rest of the summer…this just isn’t turning out how I thought that it would…

There were many blue specks around the commons and theatre at Central Campus on May 15, 2007 from 3:30 to 5:oo PM due to the navy blue Magic Pens T-shirts and hoodies that were running around. Many of us came to our final end of the year meeting/party and had a great time. Chips, cookies, brownies, and muffins were brought and shared as we hung out and goofed off. After a while, Mr. Gifford came from the theatre and Randy started the actual discussion for our meeting, which actually only had one topic, the end of the year book.

I know that I haven’t been on much lately, and I know that you all already know this and just want me to get writing already… As you might of heard from Melissa, I had a lot of art projects to catch to and they were literally taking up every waking minute of my life. That was this entire month, but now that school is over, the finals are done, and my art project is turned in, I can relax and take as much time as I would like with whatever I would like to do. I would like to apologize for my long absence, but it isn’t only Magic Pens that I have been absent from… I have rejected babysitting jobs all month, haven’t done much drawing or writing lately, haven’t played many video games, and haven’t visited my guild as often as I had. Now that school is out though, I have slowly been returning to life. It feels great to be back!

From May 13 to May 19, 2007, I had written only 137 words on Magic Pens.

Like I mentioned earlier, my art projects were swallowing up every second that I had, so I missed a word count. I promise to never entirely miss a word count…they just might be a little late. 😛

The summer had barely just begun and I found time to write 833 words off of Magic Pens from May 20, to May 26, 2007.

I also found time to read 27 pages of Timeline, written by Michael Crichton, which I hope to just sit down and read some day…

I highly doubt that I will get anything posted before the end of the year due to the immense amount of work I have and all the final exams and such that I have to study for. I am sorry to say this, but I plan to be very active this summer.

This week from May 6 to May 12, 2007, I started the outline for my end of the year book submission and the beginning for Rohashi’s story. This came to be a total of 1, 823 unpublished words.

I have also read another 21 pages of Timeline written by Michael Crichton.

I have been so busy that I haven’t had any time to just sit and read or write and it is driving me crazy! I’ll see you all at our hang-out meeting/party this Tuesday.

I am so excited right now! We’re getting all the arrangements for our end of the year book sorted out, I got my cover art, back summary, and dedication finished, planned out my hourglass story already and it’s so awesome, and I have received my T-shirt and hoodie! Thanks Mr. Gifford for everything!

This week, I admit that I didn’t accomplish a lot of writing due to the immense amount of work that I have been putting into our end of the year book and I was cramming to finish the cover art in four days.

This week from April 29 to May 6, 2007, I have written 1,293 words on Magic Pens and 206 words off for a total of 1,499 words.

As for reading, I finished the last 77 pages or so of Great Expectations written by Charles Dickens and began with the first 5 pages of Timeline written by Michael Crichton.

I would like to ask who comes by my blog and reads my stuff. I don’t know what to write right now and would like to ask my readers what they would like to continue reading.

  • What are you most interested in right now?
  • What can you not wait for?
  • What do you not care so much about?
  • What would you definitely read if I posted it?
  • etc.

As many of you know, Mr. Gifford has won the Dedication Poll, so he is most likely who we will be dedicating the book too. Here’s my version of the dedication.

Due to your encouraging words and thoughtful suggestions, we dedicate this book to you, Mr. Gifford, for giving us this chance and helping us to go forth.

I am just thinking aloud right now…Please tell me what you think. I would like some suggestions and corrections.

Basically this is what we have for the end of the year book. These are now finalized.

Here is what I have for the back summary so far. Please read and comment, giving suggestions, comments, fixing errors, etc.

The hourglass has been in use as early as the 11th century, usually consisting of sand that transfers from one glass to another through a narrow tube. This simple device is used to measure amounts of time reliably and is still in use today, but are there secrets of the hourglass that have not yet been discovered? Could this common item transport beings from one dimension to another or bond with the spirit of a dragon? Is it possible that the hourglass could have hidden, mystical powers? Or perhaps the hourglass is just another of the many items strewn across a desk…
